ABOUT ME
It’s funny how life works, transitioning into creating art full-time, I’m able to reflect back at my early years of childhood and how it has made such an impression on me.
Art has always been with me. Memories of spending endless hours building imaginary villages near the trunks of trees, getting lost in drawing and coloring, and lying in the grass, watching the clouds transform into whimsical animals and other lopsided forms.
One defining memory was riding in the back seat of our car, my dad driving, and I innocently asked him whether he saw images in the trees, shrubs and in the clouds like I do. For the curious, his simple answer was no, I don’t!
I couldn’t have predicted that when I started to pursue my art with acrylic on canvas, that I would eventually reconnect with that innocent child who once saw images. I now trust the unfolding of my creative process, knowing the next critter will reveal themselves, when ready.
Each day, as I step into my studio, I begin my practice by creating layers of acrylic paint, adding collage and utilizing my antique tool collection to craft unique textures and one of a kind marks in my work. Initially, I rarely plan. I listen. I allow myself to play and be free. Creating depth is an important step for me to allow the next critter to take shape."
My work explores the idea of creating abstract paintings through play, taking risks, and discovering a world of hidden images that emerge from my canvas.
My hope is that those that encounter my work, walk away feeling a smile on their face and a sense of wonder.
